Why I Became An Avon Rep.

So, out of nowhere, I became an Avon Representative. 


It was nearing Christmas, and with two teen daughters at home, money was tight, and Christmas looked bleak. Ok, more than bleak, Christmas just was not going to happen in our house this year! Oh, yeah, did I forget to mention, my girls each have birthdays a week before and a week after Christmas? Plus rent, groceries, utilities, car insurance, and food...Yeah, 2015 was bad!

Trying everything I could think of to generate more cash and gifts for my kids, I began frantically filling out surveys, making rebates off grocery purchases, getting free samples, and signing up for trial offers to get free gifts. Needless to say, I was a Hot Mess!

That's when I saw a cash back offer to sign up with Avon. I could sign up for $15, get $16 cash back, earn free products by selling products, and get enough points for a coveted $30 gift card I had been working towards. Sign Me Up!

Now, I have never sold anything in my life, so when the first box of brochures arrived I felt totally overwhelmed. There were samples, order books, bags, even recruiting materials to "grow my team". Grow my team? I haven't even made a product sale, so there was NO WAY I was ready to add someone else to this crazy mix! Did I just make a crazy impulsive mistake?

Fast forward 10 weeks into this new business venture, and I can honestly say my daughters had a decent Christmas and Birthday. They both got a ton of Avon, but hey, they loved every piece! I have yet to make any real money, but we have updated our entire make up supply, we have cute new bags to put it in, our shower is stocked with skin so soft, and there are some great smelling perfumes in our house!

The one thing that stands out most selling Avon though, is that you have to figure out how to network to be successful. I started small, with family and friends, letting them know I became a representative, and that I would appreciate their help in growing my business. Gradually my sales have increased each month, and I even hit my first goal of making a bonus check and sample bundle! Yay Me!

Now comes the hard part of reaching out to people and businesses in my community. This is a big move for me, as I am a stay at home Mom who has worked online, out of my home, for 10 years straight! But I know I got this! I love the fact that Avon practically sells itself, and women love to look, smell, and feel good!

Only time can tell how successful this venture will be, but I am ready to take on the challenge!
